To qualify for a PGWP, complete full-time studies at a recognized Canadian institution. When applying for the PGWP, you must also possess a valid study permit and be able to demonstrate that you have completed your studies.

The length of your PGWP will be determined by the duration of your academic program. If you have completed a two-year program, for instance, you are eligible for a two-year work permit. You will be eligible for a one-year work permit if you have completed a one-year program. However, the PGWP has a maximum duration of three years.

Canada’s International Experience (IEC)

The IEC provides three avenues for young people to live and work in Canada. The Working Holiday visa permits citizens of participating countries to work and travel for up to two years in Canada. This program is ideal for those who wish to explore Canada while earning money to fund their journey.

Notably, the Working Holiday visa is only available to those between the ages of 18 and 30. (or 35 for some countries).

If you are a young professional seeking international work experience in your field, the Young Professionals program may be for you. This program enables citizens of participating nations to work in Canada for up to two years in a field-related capacity. This programme gives young professionals a great chance to work in Canada and network with industry experts.

The Working Holiday visa, Young Professionals program, and international co-op require a Canadian work permit through the IEC program. The application process for the IEC program can be completed online and only requires a few documents, such as a valid passport and proof of financial stability.
